Hello Everybody.

I've moved! My family and I have moved from the Lenhartsville/Kempton PA area down to the Bryn Athyn PA area, just north of Philadelphia.

Please note my new contact information on the Contact page.

The reason for the move is that I've changed my day job. I'm now in training for 3 years to become a minister for the church I belong to: the General Church of the New Jerusalem.

During the next 3 summers I hope to record two albums: A flute and piano album with my sister Roxanne (listen to a preview), and a blues and jazz solo piano album.

I will be selling my CDs at the Bryn Athyn Historic District Event on Saturday April 18th in Bryn Athyn PA. I will be selling CDs between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM in the Marketplace Tent. I will also be performing my solo piano music live between 2:00 and 4:30 PM.

I will also be playing live solo piano for a wedding reception the following Saturday, April 25th.

My wife Tirah and I are putting on a concert this Saturday March 21st, 7:30 PM, at the Creekside Cultural Center in Lenhartsville PA. The concert will feature all of the songs from our latest album "Forever and Eternity."

The album features original Christian love songs based primarily around the piano and two voices, with accompanying background music in the styles of: Folk, Jazz, Country and Pop.
The album is also now available on iTunes.

Some family and friends will be joining us to perform in the concert, featuring:

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm happy to announce that I have a New Album release! My wife and I recorded an album of New Christian Love Songs which we wrote and performed. The album is called "Forever and Eternity." It would make a great Valentine's Day gift!

The album is available online from CD Baby. It is also available from the Kempton New Church, and the Wanamaker's General Store.
It will soon be available online from Fountain Publishing. And it will be available in Bryn Athyn during the Marriage Conference on Valentine's Day weekend, February 14th and 15th. It will also be available at the Bryn Athyn Cathedral Bookstore. And you can always order it directly from me, in person or by email.

My wife and I will be performing a couple of the songs from this album at the Marriage Conference in Bryn Athyn PA on Sunday February 15th at 1:30 PM before the Wedding Garment show at Cairnwood.

We will also be putting on a concert featuring all of the songs from the album at the Creekside Cultural Center in Lenhartsville on Saturday March 21st, at 7:30 PM.

I will also be providing live solo piano music for the Game Tournament at the Wanamaker's General Store on Saturday February 21st, at 2:00 PM.

Happy Holidays!

Upcoming Performances:

I will be playing my Christmas music at the Hawk Mountain Holiday Open House this Friday, November 28th, from 2 to 4 in the afternoon, with cellist Kathy Miller.

On Saturday November 29th, I'll be playing my Christmas music for the Wanamaker's General Store Holiday Open House from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and then I'll be back up at Hawk Mountain to provide more background music from 1:00(ish) to 3:00 PM.

On Saturday December 6th, I'll be selling my CDs and sheet music at the Kempton Craft Sale at the Kempton New Church, from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. I'll also be selling pre-orders of the Love Songs album, due out in February 2009.

And then that evening, December 6th at 7:30 PM, I will be performing in a Christmas Concert at Creekside Cultural Center in my home town of Lenhartsville.

It turns out that there will not be a Christmas Concert at the Ivyland New Church this year.

The Christmas CD that my men's a cappella group recorded in 2006 is now available to purchase online from Fountain Publishing. All proceeds from the sale of this CD go to the Kempton New Church. Learn more about our group and the CD here.

A woman named Lisa Shaye has recorded some wonderful vocals over top of my solo piano arrangement of Angel's We Have Heard on High. You can listen to it here.

Happy August to you!

I'm happy to announce that the music I composed for the Glencairn Documentary is now available to purchase and download from my website. There are 4 different themes, and 8 different tracks. I also have 3 new Bonus Tracks available for purchase and download from my website. These are pieces which are not on any of my albums. One is my own arrangement of the well-known tune: "The Gift of Love (O Waly Waly)." Another is a short composition called "Home Away From Home." And for something completely different, I have an instrumental rock piece which I composed and performed called "Father's Day." Check them out: Bonus Tracks.

I have also spruced up my website with some new photos on all the pages.

10th Anniversary!

Hello Friends, Family, Fans!

10 years ago today, December 22nd 1997, I sat down at a piano and recorded my first album, which became known as "Thoughts and Affections."

At the time I had no idea what would come of it. But I heard a "calling" to get my music out there... sometimes very literally from family and friends!

10 years later, and now with 4 albums, a website, and my own music business, I can look back on the beginning of this journey and know that I would never be where I am today if it hadn't been for you.

Thank you for your wonderful support over the years! I look forward to bringing you much more music in the next 10 years... and the next.... and the next!

Hello everybody,

Welcome to the September edition of my Music Newsletter.

I've spent much of the year so far working on projects for other people in my home recording studio. This has been a lot of fun, but it has meant that I haven't had much to write about lately, in regards to my own solo piano music.

Also, my wife and I just had our third child, a boy named Jaden Micah Keal. So lately, I've been spending less time at the piano, and more time changing diapers!

Welcome to the May edition of my Music Newsletter.

I have some exciting things to announce this month!

One of the new features that I will mention now is a new audio player on the Listen/Buy page. (You may notice that the player does not include music from the album "Heritage." This is just a technical glitch that will be remedied shortly.) You can actually buy and download music directly off of this player, as well as simply listen to short clips of my music.

O.K., one more thing that I'll mention about the new website is a Rates Page. This page lists all of my rates for the various services I can provide including, Booking Rates, Licensing Rates, Recording Studio Rates, Piano Lesson Rates, Commission Rates, Consulting Rates, and Product Prices.

I spent a good portion of this last month working on a really fun
studio project. Nowadays it's pretty easy to find the soundtrack to a
current movie. But there are many movies from not-that-long-ago that
don't have soundtracks which you can purchase. Someone recently hired
me to create a soundtrack from an older movie. Using my digital audio
sequencing software I was able to cut out dialogue and create a pretty
fun soundtrack, edited straight from the movie!

My Sibelius notation software has arrived. Soon I will be learning
how to use it, and then I will start to create sheet music, both of my
own compositions and for my local church's new song book.

My wife and I had fun performing at the "Caring For Marriage
Conference" in Bryn Athyn in February.

soon I will be able to start producing sheet music of my solo piano

January is always a bit of a slow month, being right after the
Christmas rush. But I've had several studio projects in the beginning

Hello everybody!

Welcome to the January 2007 edition of my music newsletter! Happy
New Year!

2006 was my second year in business as Peace of Heaven Music! It
wasn't quite as good a year as 2005... financially speaking that is.
CD sales were slightly lower, probably due to the rush of "Advent"
sales last Christmas. I didn't do as much performing in 2006. I
also didn't have any piano students. I did however do some
consulting, and my studio income was higher. Expenses were higher
in 2006 too, especially because I upgraded several things in my
studio, including a new computer, a new microphone, and new
software.

But it was great to be, yet another year, doing what I truly love...
music!

"Peace of Heaven" sales have been going pretty well. The CD is
available for $15.00. You can purchase it online from my website
(SolomonKeal.com) as well as from FountainPublishing.com. You can
also order it directly from me by sending me an email. Also check
your local New Church bookstore. You can now download individual
tracks from "Peace of Heaven" off of iTunes for $0.99 per track.

I will work on requests first.

2. Work on another album.
(This could be any number of album concepts including: a flute and
piano album with my sister, another Christmas album with voices and
other instruments, an album of love songs with my wife, a blues and
jazz piano album... we'll see which one wins out.)

3. I'm working on scoring a documentary for Glencairn Museum.

4. I will be writing and illustrating my first book this year, which
is a new area for me; not music, but definitely still creative.

So it looks like I have another full year ahead of me!

I had fun performing at my first Whisperings Concert, in
Mechanicsburg PA on December 1st. I was the first artist on the
playlist, and pretty nervous, so I unfortunately screwed up the first
piece, which was "Angels We Have Heard on High." But the rest of the
concert turned out alright. And it was a lot of fun to get to know
some other Whisperings artists.

Some of the projects I will start working on next year include:

2. A flute and piano album with my sister Roxanne.

3. An album of love songs with my wife Tirah.

4. A blues/jazz piano album.

The Lord sees us as children.

It's no new thing to think of the Lord as our Divine Parent, nor to imagine Him thinking of us as His children. But have we ever really stopped to think about what that must be like for Him? And have we ever stopped to think how that analogy might have practical application in our lives? Should not we strive, in our parenting, to be like the Divine Parent? And when we see our children misbehaving, should we not also see ourselves misbehaving in God's eyes?
I am the father of a two year old girl, and a 10 month old boy. I have not been a father for long, but in that time I've had some wonderful epiphanies about the relationship between parent and child, both in a merely human sense, and in a Divine Human sense.
For example: when we tell our children not to do something, and they then go and do it, seemingly disregarding our authority as parents, we often get angry, and might even say, "What did I just tell you!?" What must it be like then for the Lord, every time we choose to disregard his Commandments? In this light, we could almost hear His authoritative voice saying, "What did I just tell you!?" We as parents might punish our children for misbehaving and not listening, but let us remember to think, "What would our Heavenly Father do?" There are definitely punishments for disregarding the Lord's Divine Laws, and mostly the crime brings it's own punishment, but the biggest thing to remember is that the Lord is Mercy itself. He is always ready to forgive us; even when we break His Commandments, He never gives up on us. This is a good thing to remember as parents ourselves. How often do we unnecessarily remain angry with our children for misbehaving, when we need to teach forgiveness by being forgiving.
Sometimes we may see our children doing something that we know will harm them, say for example, a two year old runs out into the street. We may respond dramatically and even seem angry with the child, but ultimately it is out of love and fear for their own safety and life. Let us therefore remember that everytime we break one of the Lord's Commandments, that He is in fear for our eternal life. He loves us and doesn't want us to be hurt by the Hells that would attack us and draw us down if we choose to not listen to our Divine Parent.
I've often seen situations where I can't help but think of my child as being stupid. "How could you do that? You know it will hurt you! You just did it a minute ago, and it hurt you then too! Think about what you're doing!" But then I remember that I'm talking to a 2 year old, who, when I say "Think about what you're doing!" all they are capable of thinking is: "What does that mean?" I wouldn't blame the Lord if He thought of us as stupid. He has laid out the path to happiness, and yet we so often choose to disregard it. And then I remember that, of course the Lord doesn't think of us as stupid, we are just children in His eyes. Some of the stupid and selfish and even wrong things we do, He probably sees as cute. The Lord is patient to let us grow up bit by bit. Let us learn to be just as patient with our own children.
Being a parent, I've often thought, is a crash course in love, charity, and selflessness. And part of the reason it is that, is because it's a chance for us to walk, for a time, in the Lord's shoes. It's a chance for us to get to see what we look like through His eyes. It's a chance for us to learn how to be a loving parent, just as He is. I'm very grateful for the things I've learned by being a parent.

The essentials of the Church

My religion is called the New Church. Here are some favorite quotes, first from the Bible, and then from the Writings of Emanuel Swedeborg:
First from Matthew, the two great commandments: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets" (Matt 22:37-40)
The two essentials of the church are to love the Lord, and to love our neighbors; to be charitable and thoughful towards all of humanity, to wish everyone well.
Now from the Writings of Swedenborg: "“In the Christian world it is doctrinal matters that distinguish churches; and from them people call themselves Roman Catholics, Lutherans, and Calvinists, or the Reformed and the Evangelical, and by other names. [We in the New Church might insert here: Kemptonites, Bryn Athynites, Happy Clappy types, Pillar Huggers, People who like contemporary services, People who like traditional services, People who go to Laurel Camp, people who go to Jacob’s Creek Camp, General Church, Convention, Conference, Swedenborgian, The Lord’s New Church, etc.] It is from what is doctrinal alone that they are so called; which would never be if they would make love to the Lord, and charity toward the neighbor the principal of faith. Doctrinal matters would then be only varieties of opinion concerning the mysteries of faith, which truly Christian people would leave to every one to hold in accordance with their conscience, and would say in their hearts, that a person is truly a Christian when they live as a Christian, that is, as the Lord teaches. Thus from all the differing churches there would be made one church; and all the dissensions that come forth from doctrine alone would vanish; yea, all hatreds of one against another would be dissipated in a moment, and the Lord’s kingdom would come upon earth.” (Heavenly Secrets 1799)
So true charity, true love towards the Lord and the neighbor, is not only the core of the church, but the life of a church. For without true charity, a church naturally splinters, shatters, and dies.
My own local church society is currently divided on the doctrinal issue of what forms of worship are appropriate. I hope and pray that we can come to know that even within one society we can have differing opinions and different forms of worship, and yet still be united in true Christian charity, and focused on seeing the good in everyone.
